47 Bangladeshi hajis die in Saudi Arabia
At least 47 Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims have been reported died in Saudi Arabia this year, hajj management department said.
Of the deceased pilgrims, 36 are male and 11 are female.
The bulletin of Ministry of Religious Affairs’ hajj management department on Thursday reported that the deceased pilgrims died between August 7 and September 15 because of various reasons including old age complications.
According to the bulletin, 33 hajjis died in Makkah, eight in Madinah, one each in Jeddah and Mina while 23 other pilgrims are currently hospitalised in Saudi Arabia.
So far, a total of 1,01,797 Bangladeshi pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s hajj which is scheduled to be held on September 11.
Of them, 95,614 have reached under 483 private hajj management and 5,183 under government management.
