Four killed in 'anti-extremist' raids in Gazipur, Tangail

Gazipur Correspondent: At least four militants were killed in separate operations of police and Rapid Action Battalion in Gazipur and Tangail on Saturday morning.
The deceased could not be identified yet.
Two people were killed in an operation at Harinal Paschimpara in Gazipur on suspicion of extremists staying there.RAB’s legal and media wing director Mufti Mahmud Khan told media that two people were killed in the operation at Harinal.
Gazipur police station on duty officer sub-inspector Kabir Hossain said operations were on to a house at Harinal suspecting presence of extremists or criminals there but the house owner, Ataur Rahman, lives in Dhaka.
Police were also trading gunshots with suspected extremists in another operation at Noagaon Patartek area, said Gazipur detective branch officer-in-charge Amir Hossain.
In Tangail, two suspected extremists were killed in RAB’s operation at a three-storey house Kagmara Mirzamath area.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mohiuddin Faruq of RAB-12 said operations were still on and two suspected extremists were killed there. The extremists rented the ground floor of on Babul Mia’s house on September 27.
