Rescue operation crossed of at fire-ravaged Tampaco factory
Staff Correspondent: Gazipur district administration on Monday called off the rescue operation and removal of rubbish or rubbles at the fire-ravaged factorty of ‘Tampaco Foils Ltd’. SM Alam, deputy commissioner of Gazipur, announced the ending of the drive in the morning from a programme in the city.
Lt Col Shafiul Azam, official of 14th Independent Engineers Brigade, Asadur Rahman Kiron, acting mayor of Gazipur city, and officials of police and the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) were present at the programme, reports UNB.
“We have decided to call off the rescue operation as there is no possibility to recover any more body from the place,” said the DC. Earlier on September 10, a fire, apparently triggered by a boiler explosion, at the packaging factory killed at last 39 people and injured nearly 40 while the blaze fell down parts of the four-storeyed building.
