Ashura procession starts
Staff Correspondent: The Shia community people of Islam religion have brought out their traditional Taziah procession from the capital’s Husaini Dalan with due religious fervour around 10am today.
Apart from the main procession from the Imam Bara, the Shias brought out several numbers of Taziahs from different part of Dhaka, marking the holy Ashura.
They are seen carrying duldul, banners and flags in remembrance the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), along with his family members and 72 followers.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued individual messages on the occasions paying deep respects to Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala.
Different religious organisations have chalked out various programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
Today is also public holiday.
Muslims trust that Almighty Allah has created the Earth on this day and the ‘Qiamat Day (The Day of Last Judgement)’ will happen on this date.
This day symbolizes the sacrifice to uphold the spirit of truth and justice in the eye of Islam.
