‘Some Rohingyas entered Bangladesh illegally’
Staff Correspondent:Some of the Rohingya people from Myanmar have entered into Bangladesh territory through the borders along the Naff river in last seven days, said Border Guard Bangladesh Director General Maj Gen Abul Hossain in a press briefing today.
The BGB DG admitted it while briefing the reporters at Maloncho Rest House in Teknaf land port in Cox’s Bazar around noon on the Rohingya issue.
He held the press conference after visiting several border points along Ukhiya and Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
“We have already deployed extra BGB men on the borders,” he said adding “they are on watch to prevent entry of Rohingyas in the country”.
“There is no barbed-wire fence along the 63 kilometres Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Naf river making it easier for Rohingyas to enter here illegally,” he added.
In addition to this, many Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are relatives and there are impassable areas along the border where BGB men cannot enter that helps Rohingya entry, DG Hossain said.
