‘JMB militant’ killed in Bagerhat police ‘gunfight’
Staff Correspondent: A suspected member of a militant group named Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Rakhalgachhi area of the district`s sadar upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Superintendent of Police of Bagerhat Pankaj Chandra Roy said on secret information that some 10 to 12 JMB men were hanging out there for carrying out any unsocial activities, a team of police conducted a raid in the area.
Sensing the presence of the detectives, the JMB men opened fire at police, prompting them to retaliate and triggering a gunfight.
Law enforcers recovered two shutter guns, three hand-bombs and five rounds of bullets from the spot.
However, the other militants managed to flee the scene.
Details in this connection would be disclosed later in a press briefing,” the SP said.
