Chittagong Correspondent: A 24-hour transport strike, imposed by the regional committee of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation in 5 districts under Chittagong division began on Tuesday morning to press home nine-point demand including an end to ‘harassment’ of drivers by police.

The strike is being celibrated in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban only from 6:00am today morning.

Their nine-point demands also include establishing of terminal for bus, truck, prime-mover and trailer, parking spots for auto-rickshaw and auto-tempo, providing registration to unregistered CNG-run auto-rickshaw, fixing Tk 600 as daily deposit for the auto-rickshaw owners and forming welfare fund for the transport workers and labourers.
